Cloth Menstrual Pads vs. Menstrual Cups

Here is an article comparing cloth pads to the menstrual cup.  One thing the articles does not consider is where the menstrual cup is manufactured.  If we give a cup to a school girl in Uganda it may or may not meet her need.  Cups are not so easy to fit right. They are easy to lose.
But cups are made someplace else.  Cloth pads can be made in Uganda.  They can meet the need of women while providing jobs for uneducated women.  With the income these women make, they can send their children to school. Menstrual cups only meet the needs of the school girls, washable pads can meet the needs of the school girls, provide jobs for uneducated women, and provide school fees for poor children.  We need solutions that foster independence and sustainability.  The cups make African women dependent on outside aid.  Cloth pads make them independent.
