Suubi means Hope. We begin the new year with suubi soap.

On the top of my goals for 2018 was opening a soap making workshop.  We now have two highly motivated women who want to run this business.  The profits will go towards the teen MOPS group. They are pursuing a business license.  But first, they needed a business location.  So in faith, Sylvia found a location.  It is a 3 room house.  It has a bathroom, bedroom, and two more rooms.  It is located near a 5-star resort and shopping.  So once our soap is licensed, there will be many potential costumers nearby.  The plan is to have Olive rent one of the rooms at the same rate she now pays for her shack in the slum.  And she and Paullah will make soap in one room and store it to dry in the other room. And Olive gets the bedroom and bathroom.   The kitchen will be built outside.   This is a major step up for Olive.  She will now have running water electricity and an indoor toilet.  The owner promises to paint the rooms first.  And Sylvia wisely will not give them the full deposit until they complete the work.  Monday they begin the papers needed for the business license.  They want to call it Suubi laundry and bar soap.  Suubi means hope.   MOPS has given Olive and Paullah hope.  Last year Paullah would have died without lifesaving surgery to deliver her son Philip.  He was breach with a cord wrapped around his neck. Olive needed medical care too when she got badly burnt by water.  These two love this ministry.  It is their family.  And they feel empowered to make soap and sell it.  The rent is 125 dollars a month.  And right now we can only afford 60 dollars a month for their labor.  Eventually we want to give them 200 a month.  This is a good wage for them.  All the other profits will go towards supporting the future hairdressing school. 9 women wait for a chance to get an education.  But 2018 is beginning with Suubi…Hope. Please pray that they can get a business license.  it is complicated.  we need wisdom.  and pray the soap can find a good market.  that maybe even the resort would want to offer it in their rooms and spa.  Thank you for your prayers.
