I just chatted with Sylvia about Coronavirus. It is in all the nations around Uganda. And the people at the airport may be taking bribes to allow foreigners to come into the country without quarantine. I say maybe...we hope this is not happening. But I have seen the guards take bribes to have groups enter. The people are nervous. The health care system is very poor in Uganda. We see what is happening in Italy. How overwhelmed the doctors are. They have only 12 intensive care beds per 100,000people in the population. Germany has nearly 30 intensive care beds per 100,000 people. Uganda may have 0.5 beds per 100,000. Probably not even that many. And a poor person could not afford a bed in the hospital even if they could find one.
suubi is going to give away 2000 bars of soup in the slums this week. And the leaders are going to make an emergency plan in case coronavirus begins to invade the land. We will probably need to send emergency money so the women can stay home, not shop, and not go to the markets to sell their goods. If people donate money, we will gladly make more soap for the poor. Please pray for us. we are afraid just like everyone else. But we have so little help. not even soap.
Our women are very young. Uganda has a young population. God willing it will never take hold in the warm country. Please pray with us. Pray that we can have peace, and use our skills to make give away soap.
