We need more water and you can help

It's Friday and I am asking you to pray for Suubi Teen MOPS in Uganda.

Michelangelo the famous Renaissance artist once said that " the sculpture is already complete within the marble block before I start my work. It's already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material ".
I have been trying to meditate on the idea that God already has a plan. It's my job to seek him for the plan. It's not like he is out of control...or making it up as he goes along. He knows. I don't know...I really don't! I feel totally in the dark. Everything keeps shifting. The situation in the world...the available resources. But the thing that keeps me sane is God does know. He knows the beginning from the end. He sees the sculpture in the rock. And to him, I am that sculpture that keeps being revealed with every circumstance and trial. The Suubi center is also a revelation. And slowly we are seeing what it can be and will be. And it will be full of art and beauty. A place of healing. A home filled with joy and fruitfulness. A light in the community.
There are positive things to share. The Ebola situation seems to be stable in Kampala. So far new cases are reported in the lockdown areas of the country. People have been digging up the bodies of ebola victims to perform rituals. And it's these people who are contracting Ebola. That's really sad. But Kampala so far has not seen any new cases. And because of its dense population, an outbreak in Kampala would be unthinkable to fight. So please continue to pray that we don't see any new spread of this sickness. That Kampala does not have to lockdown. I also pray that this situation in the lockdown areas can come under control.
Please pray for our students that are sitting the national exams in the coming week. Ashraf had surgery to correct an umbilical hernia. He missed over a month of school. He takes the exam next week. The teachers brought him his work. He is a very good student. But pray he fully recovers and can do well in his exams.
Shamillah continues to recover from having a hysterectomy. She is walking. She is maybe able to come home next week. She is only 17 years old. Pray she is healthy and emotionally healthy too. Pray for Gift who remains at the hospital helping Shamillah. Pray, they don't come into contact with any sickness. Especially not Ebola. People who have Ebola would naturally go to the hospital seeking help. We pray that our people will not come into contact with the virus.

Sylvia and two Suubi leaders met with the street business school people this week. We are praying for a scholarship to attend the business training that happens at the end of the month. Even with a scholarship, the training will cost us 1000 dollars. But it's really what the Lilly Avenue women need to become self-sustaining and successful. We would be so honored to be part of this training. Please pray we get chosen.
The rainy season is going to end soon. There is rain forecast for about two weeks more. We rushed to place an additional 10,000-liter water tank next to the kitchen. Hopefully, it will fill up before the rains end. But the pond has not filled up. We need a well. We have set up a fundraiser with the Uganda water project. Our friends in America that wish to support Suubi can give to our Uganda Water project and receive a tax credit. We will need between 9 000 and 12 000 USD to build a deep borehole. God willing we can have a well. They start with a survey. Hopefully, the survey will show a well is possible. Otherwise, we will add additional water tanks. But a well is really the best thing if it works.
A friend is giving us 8000 USD towards the well. We only require 1,000 to 4000 USD depending on the total cost of the borehole. $12,000 sounds impossible, but we are not actually as far from the goal as it looks.

They are busy supporting the tomatoes. They are also picking boquets of flowers. And we are planning to build the kitchen. They might even start the painting. Juergen and Nicole will have so much to do...fine details. The women are getting as much done ahead of the arrival of Juergen and Nicole in December. Juergen will finish the countertop and tile. Nicole will do some mural work and garden work. At least this is the plan. We pray Ebola is stopped and it will be safe to travel.
