May 28 is international menstrual hygiene day

Tomorrow May 28 is international menstrual hygiene day. As many as 20% of the girls in the world drop out of school when they get their period. That number is as high as 30% in Uganda. They are often shamed and have no access to safe affordable hygiene products. At Suubi Teen MOPS in Kampala, our women have learned to sew washable sanitary pads. We have given away 1000's of washable pads to girls in poor rural schools in Uganda. This helps them to stay in school...not missing lessons and exams. And to celebrate menstrual hygiene day we will match your donation to our pad project. For every euro, you donate up to 1000 euro and Hoffnung für Uganda will match it. It cost only 5 euros for the material to make a pad kit. One kit includes 4 washable sanitary pads and a bar of soap. Next week (May 27-June 3) donate 5 euros and we will match your donation. Donate 100 euros we will give 100. 1 kit becomes 2 kits, 20 kits become 40. And the kits are made by the women in the sewing school. They will receive food and rent for their labor. It is hard to believe girls quit school because they do not have money or access to safe affordable hygiene products. Your simple donation of 5 euros can change a girl's life....and for the next week, your donation will be matched up to the first 1000 euro. Read more about our pad project on our website.
