Saving the environment

The women are now using old plastic to make what is called fused plastic.  And with this, they are making shopping bags.  The workshop has baskets of offcuts of African fabric.  So the material needed for these shopping bags is actually free.  Plastic waste is a real problem in Uganda.  Recycling this plastic and using it as fabric helps save the environment and the women also keep a higher profit when they sell the bags because they are not paying for fabric.  We need the wisdom to gain a market for our goods.  But the women are making an effort to create and sell things.
